Aims
  • We have a special interest in the many forms of traumatic stress we live with in Zimbabwe and the region.
  • We seek ways to understand the effects of these corrosive psychosocial experiences while we also recognize the resilience with which individuals, families and communities respond to them.
  • We seek to join with other colleagues in their communities and organizations across the region in developing and refining local knowledges and culturally appropriate interventions.
  • We anticipate remaining a manageable group of professionals who will work collaboratively and creatively with communities and other organizations in a wide variety of areas related to our core competencies and interests, and preferably for time-limited periods.
  • We will privilege work which integrates research and the constructive implementation of its findings as a core function.

Mission Statement

Activism is my rent on Earth

Electronic activism . . . get involved and use ICTs to advocate, lobby and mobilize.

Powerlessness and silence go together. We should use our positions not as a shelter from the world's reality, but as a platform from which to speak. A voice is a gift. It should be cherished and used.

Margaret Atwood
