Objectives |
| Camfed
is dedicated to fighting poverty and AIDS in rural communities
by educating girls. The CAMFED Model has five strategies to
achieve and sustain girls’ education:
(1)
It meets the direct family costs of girls’ primary
and secondary education for poor rural families.
(2) It extends the benefits of that education through credit
and business mentoring for rural, female school leavers.
(3) It provides leadership training to young educated rural
women to empower them to lead initiatives in girls’
education.
(4) It builds transparent and broadly-accountable decision-making
structures and systems in rural communities.
(5) It enables education activists operating at different
levels to extend CAMFED’s action and learning to more
rural communities.
|
Mission Statement |
| In
a context in which girls have least access to education and
are most vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, CAMFED’s mission is to
multiply girls’ access to education in Africa and accelerate
the social and economic benefits for all. |

Electronic
activism . . . get involved and use ICTs to advocate, lobby and mobilize.
Powerlessness
and silence go together. We should use our positions not as a shelter from the
world's reality, but as a platform from which to speak. A voice is a gift. It
should be cherished and used.

Atwood
