He dropped his thumb it dropped to his side and used it to massage his forefinger, sign language for the universal lubricant of the greased palm. Zimbabwe announces election run-off
Eldred Masunungure, a professor of political science at the University of Zimbabwe, said Mr. Tsvangirai would have to hold his nose and compete in the second-round vote. "I don't believe that Tsvangirai will refuse to participate in a runoff — he is given to prevaricating and flip-flopping but I believe that he will eventually participate no matter what he says," he said. Post election violence continues across Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights (ZADHR) reports that between 1-25 April, it treated 385 patients with injuries due to political violence. Severe psychological stress is common to all these cases, including the few without major physical findings. Increasing numbers of reports have been received by ZADHR of medical and other health personnel suffering intimidation and physical threat. This is either because they have been perceived to be ‘opposition’ supporters or to have voted for the ‘opposition’, or because they have treated or might in the future treat ‘opposition’ people who have been injured.
